How long have you been in Greenville? 12 Years
Most interesting fact about you: I have a passion for politics.
Your background: I grew up a "media baby." My Dad has worked for several news organizations, such as for the Associated Press. He is also a Pulitzer Prize winning writer that passed down his love of writing to me. When I was younger I'd go to work with my Dad and always enjoyed the fast paced environment of the newsrooms he worked at.
Family plug but my Dad has a series that will air next week on A&E, 'The Devil Next Door,' that showcases the lives of the Spindale Church in North Carolina. It is a traumatic story about abuse within the Church. He [Dad] uncovered this story, A&E came onboard after a couple of pitches and A&E is making it into a docuseries.
For me though, I guess I'd start this off by saying that I was born in Ohio. When I was 14 we moved to South Carolina and our family has been here since. Thus, half my life has been spent here in Ohio and half in South Carolina.
I grew up in the public school setting, I went to Wade Hampton High School, then I went to Winthrop but graduated from USC Upstate with a BA in English Literature and Journalism, in hopes to someday work for an accredited media outlet. My undergrad is in English Literature and journalism in hopes to someday work for an accredited media outlet. In particular, I'd enjoy investigative journalism as I was not only brought up with this particular style, but I am very in-tune with real world events. It is always fun to break everything down from a millennial lens, enabling for them to understand.
The goal for next year is to go to Law School to advance my knowledge with both politics and the 'investigative approach' to journalism. Criminal Law, anything involving white or blue collar crimes, all very interesting to me.
I really want to plant my seed in Greenville. It has been a few years since I have graduated college, now trying to build myself here in Greenville with the hopes to stay longterm.
