Name: Natalie Hayes
How long have you been in Greenville? Since 2008, off and on (work takes me elsewhere often).
Most interesting fact about you: Every year around this time, I raise Monarch caterpillars through their transformation process to butterflies, and then set them free for the Great Monarch Migration to Mexico.
Videos + photos are posted to my Instagram, which people really seem to enjoy checking out.
Your background: I've been a media makeup artist (TV/video/film)for several years. It's been an action-packed, super fun adventure using my brushes to grace the faces of everyone from President Jimmy Carter to Shaquille O'Neal to the main cast of "The Walking Dead."
One day I can be in a press box doing makeup for a sportscaster and the next day it's for the world's top liver surgeon for an educational video. So many unique and fascinating people along the way.
Though it took a ton of hard work to get here, it was well worth it and I feel very fortunate...fortunate to both be doing what I love and also residing in the city I love- GVegas!
Currently reading or watching: About to start on "How to End the Autism Epidemic" by J.B. Handley
Hobby: I love the walking trails in the area, and intend to explore every last one of them
Tagline / Motto: Do great things!
Who do you work for? Independent contractor- work has been on TV networks such as CBS, ABC, NBC, USA, Lifetime, MTV, ESPN, TV Guide, TLC, A&E, OWN, FOX Sports, MSNBC, CMT, HGTV, Bravo, truTV, AMC, INSP, PBS, FOX News, WWE, Univision + many videos & feature films
What is your day-to-day on the job? I'm the first person on a work day to really interact with the talent (actors, models, or whomever is on camera)...so it is my job to make them comfortable and welcome while at the same time making sure they look their on-camera best.
Once finished there, I follow them to set and keep eyes on them the entire time they are there, as well as on the monitor. In between takes, I jump in when needed and make any adjustments.
On a less challenging job there could be one talent in setup for the day, possibly seated in front of a green screen the entire time reading a teleprompter for a video.
On a more challenging job, there are several talents on camera at different times, all with different needs, and multiple location changes as well. Every production has a unique life of its own- different crew, different locations, different talent, so that's the adventurous side of it all. We work longer days than many people do, but we love what we do and wouldn't change it for the world.
How do you think Greenville would describe you in one word? Colorful!
How would you describe Greenville in one word? Welcoming!
Besides residence, where is your favorite Greenville morning hangout? Not being a morning person, you'll rarely see me out in the morning except for work
Besides residence, where is your favorite Greenville evening hangout? Sadly, I'm often working out of town and have not done much evening gallavanting in our great city
