Name: Jonathan Clark
How long have you been in Greenville? Three plus years on June 19th
Most interesting fact about you: I have eaten crickets in Vietnam, eww! But, they were cooked in butter and garlic!
Your background: Vast.
I was born in Ft. Worth and moved every three years. I graduated high school in Tulsa. University life was in Arkansas.
I moved in 5x8 trailer with my wife Diane to extremely rural Tulelake, California. We got pregnant and went back to Texas.I bought first home only to get opportunity move over seas to Iwakuni, Japan and Spangdahlem, Germany to serve the children of Marine, Navy, and Air Force. Went overseas thinking one year but stayed twelve.
Family traveled to every kind of country you can think of. Exposed them to languages, foods, cultures, religions, and poverty, it was the best education in the world. Decided after 23 years in education I needed a change. Took skills sets and high achievement and moved to a place called Greenville.
I did something wild and went into real estate. I compete daily with agents who were born here or who had a grandmother give them their first listing. I started with nothing. Nobody. So with my background I don't see lines. I draw my own lines. I relate well to anyone considering a relocation to our area. And I um....consistently love working "with" people and complex situations.
Currently reading or watching: Not Reading anything in particular Now. Any suggestions?
Hobby: Airbnb? What? Yes, two in Travelers Rest and another one coming in early Spring.
Tagline / Motto: "Be who you are. Don't try to be who you ain't."
Who do you work for? Greer Real Estate Company, my wife, my kids and sometimes my cat, 'Peach.'
What is your day-to-day on the job? My primary day pattern goes like this. Coffee at seven am at Leopard Forest Coffee in Travelers Rest. My background with 23 years in teaching and as a librarian taught me to work in patterns and careful planning. You often get what you plan for. I am fortunate to team with Megan Lanford for listings and buyers. We meet with clients together for safety and because of chemistry. We often have to divide up with the client load is heavy. Is it still true that hard work and smart work pays off? It seems to be that way.
